Terms of use

The agreement between you and Sited when you make an account, draw a site and buy a plan.

In effect from [effective date]

A draft. The parts in square brackets are still to be filled in.

The service

Sited, at sited.design, is an editor for architectural site analysis boards, run by [Company legal name], [Registered postal address]. These terms apply whenever you use it. The Privacy policy says what Sited keeps about you and why.

Your account

You must be at least [minimum age] to make an account. An account is for one person: give a real email address, keep your password to yourself, and tell us at [contact email] if you think someone else has used it. You are responsible for what is done with your account.

Using Sited fairly

Do not use Sited to:

  • break the law, or upload what you have no right to share;
  • reach other people’s accounts or work, or get round the limits Sited sets;
  • overload Sited or the map and data services it asks for you, for example by fetching data automatically or in bulk;
  • upload anything harmful, such as malware;
  • copy or resell Sited itself.

Your work

What you make and upload stays yours. You give us permission to store, copy and show it, only as far as running Sited for you needs: keeping it, backing it up, drawing it on screen and exporting it when you ask. The permission ends when you delete it, apart from backups, which are replaced in time.

You confirm that you may use what you upload, such as photographs and drawings. What you export from Sited is yours to use, in coursework, competitions and paid work alike.

Templates

The templates published in Sited are there to start from. Starting from one gives you your own copy: change it as you like and use what you make with it in your own work. Do not sell or share the templates themselves as templates.

Site data

The data Sited loads for a site is a starting point, not a survey. Sited marks where the data on a board came from and how far to trust it. In particular:

  • OpenStreetMap is drawn by volunteers, and how much of a place it covers varies;
  • land use shows what an area is mapped as, which is not its legal zoning;
  • Sited has no flood-risk data;
  • wind is modelled for the wider region, not measured on the site;
  • the sun’s path is worked out from the site’s position, and is not a shadow study.

Check what a decision depends on with the local authority, official maps and a survey. Map data belongs to its makers and is used under their licences, so keep the credits that Sited puts on maps and boards when you share or publish them. The sources are listed on the Contact page.

Plans and payment

  • Sited can be used on the Free plan without paying. What each plan includes, and its price, are shown on Plans and pricing before you buy.
  • A paid plan renews at the end of each month or year until it is cancelled, and is charged by our payment provider.
  • Cancel at any time from Manage billing on Plans and pricing. The plan stays until the end of the period already paid for, then the workspace moves to Free.
  • Moving to a smaller plan never removes anything: what is over its limits is kept, and only adding more is refused.

Refunds

[Refund terms: when a payment is refunded, and how to ask for it]

Availability

We work to keep Sited running and your work safe, but cannot promise that it will always be available or free of faults. It may pause for maintenance, change as it improves, and depends on map and data services that we do not run. Export what you cannot do without.

Liability

[Jurisdiction-appropriate wording on the limits of liability]

Ending

You can stop using Sited at any time. To have your account deleted, follow the Privacy policy. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, and will tell you why unless the law or the safety of others prevents it.

Law

These terms are governed by [governing law and courts]. Nothing in them takes away rights that the law where you live gives you and that cannot be agreed away.

Changes

When these terms change, we update this page and the date at the top, and tell account holders by email before a change that matters to them applies. Using Sited after that means you accept the new terms.
